March 11 Updates on Masks and Grooming
Thursday March 10, 2022
Masks
With the easing of the provincial COVID-19 restrictions, the BV Cross Country Ski Club is removing the requirements for masks and capacity limits in the lodge and wax hut at the Nordic Centre. However, COVID has not disappeared so please manage your own risk and continue to follow good disease prevention practices: stay home when sick and wash your hands frequently. Please respect others' decisions about wearing a mask and/or maintaining physical distance. People can have different health concerns or circumstances and different risk tolerance.
The Club's COVID Policies have been updated.
Grooming
The PistenBully blew a bearing and will not be available for this weekend. But the crew has a plan B and will use small machines to make the tracks as good as possible. Our goal is to have the PistenBully operational withn 10 days. It is a minor repair but getting the parts will take time.
Our intention is to continue grooming the trails until mid-April, depending on conditions. So don't put the skis away too soon. Spring skiing can be fantastic, especially if you can get the timing right during melt-freeze cycles. Even if you don't get the Goldilocks conditions, it is usually so worthwhile and probably better than trying to force other spring activities when spring is not fully established.
