Holiday Hustle
The popular Holiday Hustle returns from Saturday, December 21, 2024 to Sunday, January 5, 2024. Everyone is welcome to join. Ski the route as many times as you would like during this time period, and upload your results (including which technique was used) to Strava or post your results, comments, and pictures on our Facebook group page. If you would like to participate but don't have social media, please email your time (preferably with a photo of your watch) to events@bvnordic.ca. Prizes provided by local businesses will be drawn at random, so anyone can be a winner. There's even a prize for skiing the route the most often!
Update December 20: Due to mild weather, we have had to revert to last year's segment: https://www.strava.com/segments/36023534. Therefore, the route is a little over 9 km long, but now with less climbing! It is well-signed, including some reflective arrows for night skiing. Conditions will vary day to day, so check out the grooming conditions on Nordic Pulse. Following the signs, start from the stadium onto Broadway, all the way to the end before heading right onto Wetzin’kwa. Climb up the hill and head right to the inner Demo Forest trail. From there head left at the Upper Logging Road. Enjoy the descent then stay right onto Valleyview until heading left at L6/the Dahlie Connector to ski a short section of the Perimeter trail until it joins Down & Out. Head back via Down & Out to Northern Lights before finishing at the stadium. Be sure to ski all the way past the finish time to ensure Strava picks up your time.
Please know your limit & ski within it! This is not a closed course: participants must be aware of their surroundings and other skiers, and ski in control at all times. Valid season or day pass needed to join the fun.
