Holiday Hustle
Thank you to everyone who participated in this season's iteration of the Holiday Hustle! Over 100 people completed over 215 laps. Caedmon Dunbar skied the route a whopping 16 times, which is the most anyone has skied the hustle since its inception. The fastest overall time (and fastest skate time) was logged by David Doogan-Smith who took just 17 minutes & 24 seconds to complete the 6.94km route. Ava Wimbush, BV race program alumna, had the fastest skate time for a female in 20:11. On the classic side, Bryden Rigets came in at 26:37 for the men followed closely by Megan Peloso in 26:51 for the women. This was also fast enough for 9th overall, a tremendous result against the many women who skated the route. Many thanks to Greg Dykxhoorn & Rob Henry for their help to make the event possible.
The popular Holiday Hustle returns from Sunday, December 21, 2025 to Sunday, January 4, 2026. Everyone is welcome to join. Ski the route as many times as you would like during this time period, and upload your results (including which technique was used) to Strava or post your results, comments, and pictures on our Facebook group page. If you would like to participate but don't have social media, please email your time (preferably with a photo of your watch) to events@bvnordic.ca. Prizes provided by local businesses will be drawn at random, so anyone can be a winner. There's even a prize for skiing the route the most often! This is the Strava segment.
Update December 11: Due to recent logging, we have had to create a new route. Therefore, the route is a little under 7 km long. It is well-signed, including some reflective arrows for night skiing. Conditions will vary day to day, so check out the grooming conditions on Nordic Pulse. Head to Broadway from the stadium and look for the "Let it Rip" sign that indicates the start. Follow Broadway all the way to the end before heading right onto Wetzin’kwa (L2); be sure to stay right on Wetzinkwa at the lollipop. Climb up the hill and head right at the top (L3) onto the Demo Forest trail. From there head downhill until turning left at the L5 intersection where Valleyview meets the Demo Forest trail. Please be aware that this is a hard left turn -- check your speed and ski in control. Follow Valleyview briefly until turning right (L6) onto the Dahlie Connector before taking another right at junction J onto the Perimeter trail. At junction K head left onto Down and Out and continue until it merges with Northern Lights. Enjoy the short descent into the stadium and be sure to ski all the way past the finish sign to ensure Strava records your segment.
Please know your limit & ski within it! This is not a closed course: participants must be aware of their surroundings and other skiers, and ski in control at all times. Valid season or day pass needed to join the fun.
