Ski S’Kool

About The Ski S'Kool Program

Ski S’Kool is an outreach program offered by the Bulkley Valley Cross Country Ski Club (BVCCSC) at the Bulkley Valley Nordic Centre. It is a partnership program with local elementary schools that brings between 400 and 600 individual students out on Nordic skis each year. Our goal is for all students in the Bulkley Valley to get the opportunity to cross country ski.

The BVCCSC Ski S’Kool program has been running for nine years and has offered introductory lessons and equipment to thousands of elementary school students in the Bulkley Valley. The trails at the Bulkley Valley Nordic Centre are well suited to the beginner’s ability and provide a beautiful setting for a healthy outing. In 2023, the Ski S’kool program invested in new skis for Kindergarten to grade three students to borrow at no additional cost. The inventory increased from 45 sets of skis and boots in the current stock up to 54. In 2025, the Ski S’kool program purchased 20 pairs of new skis and boots with NNN bindings to replace old, worn out skis and boots.  In 2026, the plan is to convert the rest of the ski inventory to NNN bindings and boots, to ensure better equipment compatibility.

We are grateful to the Bulkley Valley Community Foundation (BVCF) who continues to award the BV Nordic Ski S’Kool program with grants sponsorship. This sponsorship goes towards keeping the student fees low as well as covering program costs.  THANK YOU!
