COVID-19 Off Season Safety Plan

The club is in the process of developing a COVID-19 safety plan for the coming 2020-2021 season. In the meantime we have adopted Cross Country BC's safety plan as our own for the purpose of allowing "off-season" group training. CCBC's plan is on pages 3-8 of this document.

A little snow makes a big difference

Monday March 23, 2020

A half hour of heavy snow on Monday resulted in a few cm of new snow on the trails. Once it gets cold tonight, the PistenBully will be out refreshing the classic and skate tracks. It should be good. If you decide to ski the trails, keep your distance from each other. It is easy to do. 

Local Athletes Ski 100 km

At the start of the season BV Nordic's senoir athletes; Jesse Smids, Miller Kriese, Gregory Baxter, Conor Murphy, and Caedmon Dunbar made a challenge to ski 100km in one day. This challenge was completed on March 20, 2020. To read more about this impressive endeavour click here

Club members Callie Lancaster and Lea-Marie Bowes-Lyon are representing Canada at the Winter World Masters Games in Innsbruck, Austria. On January 14 they both earned bronze medals in their repsective age categories in the Individual 10km event. Congratulations!

Community Coaching Course

The Bulkley Valley Cross Country Ski Club is hosting a Community Coaching Course January 18-19, 2020. 

The community coaching (CC) Workshop is the second step in the NCCP coach education program. It provides essential training for coaches delivering an effective skill development program to children six to nine years of age (the “FUNdamentals” stage of athlete development. This program is designed to train coaches to teach children technical skills, select games that reinforce the technical skills being taught, design and lead on-snow sessions, select and prepare equipment for young children and make learning FUN. Successful completion of the ICC online module, enthusiasm and a minimum age of 14 years are the only prerequisites.

Santa’s Workshop 2019

On Saturday December 21 from 2-5 p.m. the Bulkley Valley Nordic Centre invites you and your children to come visit Santa's workshop where he and his elves will be hard at work finishing up toys before closing up shop Christmas Eve.

Nestled in the woods, just a short walk from the parking lot, Santa's workshop is a delight for all ages. Filled with elf-made wooden toys, decorations and wrapped gift boxes, the workshop has something for every one and is a unique experience that won't soon be forgotten.

After you've visited Santa and his elves, come enjoy a hot cup of hot chocolate and some cookie decorating in the BV Nordic Centre lodge.

Santa looks forward to your visit! Ho ho ho!

Buchfink Brunch

Please join us December 7, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. for a casual, family friendly brunch to kick off the season.
There will be: pancakes, gluten-free waffles, fresh fruit, coffee, and juice.
Work up an appetite with a ski beforehand or burn some calories off afterwards—or both!
Food is free, skiing requires a valid pass.
